in my condition
installURL ".dotnetfx.exe" is the current folder

what is the previous folder pls

...\dotnetfx.exe... but it doesn't work ! ?
 
You need to separate the filename from the directory path. The Path class
has shared methods to help with this.

When you recreate the directory path you can step back one directory or add
an "..\" into the end of the directory path.

Dim org As String = Me.GetType().Assembly.Location

Dim dirs As String = Path.GetDirectoryName(org)

Dim app As String = Path.GetFileName(org)

Dim final As String = dirs & "\..\" & app

System.Diagnostics.Trace.WriteLine(dirs & vbCrLf & app & vbCrLf & final)
