Dot Net version 2.0

Any ideas what this could be:

"The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( .NET Runtime ) cannot be
found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote
computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details. The following information
is part of the event: Unable to open shim database version registry key
- v2.0.50727.00000."

The above message was obtained from Error in Event Viewer logs. I have
all versions upto and including version 3 and I have also checked using
autoupdate of XP professional.

That link doesnt work, it doesnt work when
you put in your live ID or whatever it is either.

It says page not found.

You'll have to ring your closest MS office
and quote KB 918642, so they can email it to you.

You seem to now be saying there is not a problem with the link but a problem
with the download? If so I had to logon with passport in order to get to it.
