dot missing in mx record

Strange problem here. When I query DNSReports.com for coweta.k12.ga.us, it
reports the mx record as mx1, which is correct, but it leaves out the .
between it and the domain and it does not report the IP address. I have
deleted and recreated the mx1 record along with the PTR record on our
external dns server, but the dot is still missing, and the IP address
doesn't show up. What could be causing this problem? Thanks!

There does not appear to be an "A" record for either dns1.coweta.k12.ga.us or
dns2.coweta.k12.ga.us which are listed as authority for the domain. This makes
finding an "MX" record impossible.

Thanks, John. You were right - those records were missing. I added them,
though, and am still not able to receive email addressed to that domain.

You need to recreate this MX record, you left out the dot between the 1 and
the c.
coweta.k12.ga.us. 3599 IN MX 10 mx1cowetaschools.net.

Example:
coweta.k12.ga.us. 3599 IN MX 10 mx1.cowetaschools.net.

ANSWER SECTION:
mx1.cowetaschools.net. 3600 IN A 168.9.128.21
