I have an old 486 system running DOS 6 and I would like to know if
there is any way to copy a software application program from the old
computer to a newer computer I'm running Windows XP on. I don't have
the original disks for the application currently running in DOS 6. Is
this even a possibility? I need to trash the old 486 PC before it
totally crashes but I need that one software application. Please help.

Remove the hard disk from the 486 PC and install it as another drive in the WinXP PC. Then
you can copy the data files. However, I first suggest scanning the hard disk for viruses
prior to copying any files off the hard disk. Once done, you can remove the hard disk.

you want the application, right?
not just data files.

I don't think so. It' s a DOS program? even less likely.
