Dos screen flashes up now and again

Every now and again, a dos screen flashes up in the top
left of my screen. It's very fast, and, until yesterday,
didn't know what was causing it. My computer was running
like a dog, and I managed to catch the title bar which
said "WINNT\msqhmalldfr.exe"

I renamed this file and haven't had any more screens flash
up.

Does anyone know what this file is for, and why it should
suddenly start doing silly things. By the way,
the "modified" attribute of the file is updated each time
it flashes at me.

It's probably some spyware than used the Task Scheduler
to run itself once every so often. Have a look at your scheduled
tasks!

That's great, thanks very much for your swift reply.
I don't have any scheduled tasks, but that doesn't mean
there haven'ty been!
I know there are freebie "Spyware Catchers" out there, and
will see if I can find one.

Once again, many thanks for your kind assistance.

Phil.

FYI:
AdAware and SpyBot are two common, popular and free adware/spyware removal
tools.
