As a matter of interest why do you wish to install Win95?
Your hardware may not support win9*, you might want to check this first.

Hi,

From the A:\> prompt, run fdisk. You will need to remove the non-dos
partition(s) and then create at least a primary dos partition. Set it as
active, then exit fdisk and reboot to the floppy. Format, run sys C:, and
then setup for Win95. Be aware that Win95 is unlikely to support newer
hardware properly, so expect problems in getting things to run smoothly.

I won't ask why you would want to revert to such an old unsupported OS that
will be a serious security risk. I would recommend that you not connect it
to the internet unfirewalled, if not for your own safety then for that of
others.

It sounds like you may have hard drives connected to a controller that
doesn't work in DOS. Are they SATA hard drives? Are they larger than 127 MB?
If they don't work in DOS they won't work in Windows 95 either. Very few
motherboard manufacturers have DOS or Windows 95 drivers for new
motherboards.

WinXP can create a boot disk that stops at DOS. You should be able to
access the hard drives but if you need to access a CDROM, you will need
CDROM drivers on the floppy.

However, many Windows installation CDROMs are bootable if you tell DOS
to look first at the CDROM. That should solve your problems.

a dos boot disk cannot read an NTFS partition...
besides...win95 needs a patch to work on a CPU faster than 300 mhz...
and even then may still not work

DoS = Denial of Service.
DOS = Disk Operating System
