If it looks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, and it give you a C:>
like duck - what other name are you gonna give it?

To 99% of the computer world, that's a DOS prompt. For the other 1% of us,
it's a Command Line Interface. The OP did not ask how to boot his XP
machine into DOS, did he?

How do I get to the MS Dos prompt in XP?

You don't. There is no DOS prompt in XP.

Thank You Very Much!

But recognise that it is a 32 bit emulation of DOS: so may not behave in
quite the same way (for example DOSKey facilities are inbuilt, as is
long name support). Running DOS programs under it is *not* guaranteed;
some that try to avoid going through DOS calls to access hardware direct
are never going to work while Windows is running. And you would need a
distinct boot - eg of a Win98 startup floppy; there is no DOS in XP for
you to do a reboot to DOS mode.
