Dos prompt

Shutdown.exe is not recognized as internal or external
command, operable command or batch file. It happened when
I tried to execute the shutdown. exe on windows 2000 pro
and server edition dos prompt
Can anyone help to solve this problem ?

Hi

Windows 2000 doesn't come with shutdown.exe (WinXP/Win2k3 does). It is in the
Windows 2000 Resource Kit I think (buy-ware).

A free alternative:

PsShutdown.exe in the free PsTools suite

If you do have placed shutdown.exe in the path and it has worked before
from the command prompt, Take a look here (most likely the Reg_Expand_Sz
vs. Reg_Sz type setting in registry):
