I use Netscape mail. It has always been the default on my pc. All of
a sudden Outlook comes up as the default. When I look at the
Internet settings in Control Panel, Netscape is still the default.

I installed MS Office Professional a few months ago. Perhaps that did
it? How can I get it back to Netscape?

thanks

does Netscape have an option to always check if it's default when it starts?
That's the best way to insure it is always default as installing office
updates often resets outlook as default. If you aren't using outlook for
anything uninstalling it is a good idea.

First of all Netscape is already the default. That's why I don't
understand what's happening. When I click on an email address in my
browser (any browser) up pops Outlook. It says it's not the default
but it still starts automatically.

How can I uninstall Outlook? It's not listed separately in my program
list. Everything is lumped in with MS Office Professional.

You didn't mention if you are using IE as your web browser. If so, then I
have a bit of experience with this problem (see my post directly below).
Every time IE is upgraded through your internet connection, it routinely
kicks out NS mail as your default mail browser and substitutes Outlook. Thus,
each time this happens, you must manually change the default mail browser in
IE. Do this by clicking "Tools", then "Internet Options", then the "Programs"
tab. Under "E-mail", select "Netscape Mail". Voila! You are back to your NS
mail browser.

I use Firefox and Netscape. Same thing happens in both browsers which
is why I assume it is not browser related. Also I looked at the
settings using IE just to be sure and Netscape is already there as my
email program.
