My computer used to go straight into windows desktop after I switch it on.
But after I installed Micosoft Student 2006(Encarta), it will open up a Log
On screen. I then have to click on my name before windows completes openning
up the desktop.

How do I make it go straight to loading up and openning the desktop without
any intervention. I am the only one using the computer.

Thanks.

Try

Start | Run <type in> control userpasswords2 <enter>

You'll know what to do.

It works for switching on and rebooting, but I just found that each time
screensaver wakes up, the Log On screen appears again. But this is not a
real hassle because the instant you click on the name the desktop appears
without any waiting time. Anyway is there some way to completely eliminate
the Log On screen for all occasions?

Thanks.

I believe there is an option in the screensaver settings "On resume,
Password Protect" if that's checked you go to the log on window. You might
also try and download Microsoft Powertoy "TWEAKUI" which has a setting where
you can tell it to automatically logon to your computer

Good luck, Stephan

Thanks to all. I found that in Control Panel/ User Accounts there was a .NET
account (set up I believe by Microsoft Student 2006. After deleting that
account, everything is back to normal - no more Log On screens even after
wake up from screensaver.
