Don't want automatic sequential numbering in Access 2003

I noticed that in Access 2003 there is a feature that automatically
populates the next field in a series of numbers with the next number in
the sequence. In case I didn't say that right.. if you enter a "0" in
one field and a "1" in the next field, when you hit enter, the next
field automatically populates with a "2", assuming you want the
shortcut for a sequential numbering. I feel like this introduces a
potential source of data entry error, especially since we often use 0
and 1 for "no" and "yes" respectively and may skip fields. I don't
want to always use a default of "0" because I sometimes want the fields
left blank if nothing is answered. Anyway, I really don't like this
feature and I was wondering if there is a way to turn it off somehow.
Or get around it...Thanks in advance for any help...

Microsoft has heard this as a pain point, and so Access 2007 will not have
this annoying behavior.

There is no way to turn it off in a datasheet in A2003.
You can avoid it if you use a continuous form instead of a datasheet.

Well, at least I know I'm not missing an obvious fix. I was using a
table directly for data entry, but maybe I can create a continuous form
and just do it that way. I'll try it. Thanks!
