Done, but with errors on page.

Recently I have not been able to 'save' my 'settings' on a few web pages; for
example, saving a route on mapmyrun.com or the news sources on foxnews.com.
On fox, when I try to save my selections I get no response, and the error
(Done, but with errors on page.) icon appears in the status bar. When I
double-click the icon I get the following three error messages, all with the
same heading:

Problems with this Web page might prevent it from being displayed properly
or functioning properly. In the future, you can display this message by
double-clicking the warning icon displayed in the status bar.

“Always display this message when a page contains errors†is NOT checked.

1st error:
Line: 7
Char: 1
Error: ‘win247’ is null or not an object
Code: 0
URL: http://www.foxnews.com/mynews/index.html

2nd error:
Line: 27
Char: 2
Error: ‘null’ is null or not an object
Code: 0
URL: http://www.foxnews.com/mynews/index.html

3rd error:
Line: 455
Char: 26
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: http://www.foxnews.com/mynews/index.html

I have tried the suggestions concerning the Tools>Options>Advanced tab and
updated the scripting engines as suggested by MVPs in other posts, all to no
avail.

Any suggestions to remedy situation this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Just viewing the page mentioned in your error messages -
http://www.foxnews.com/mynews/index.html - the second script error appears
here in IE 6 on WinXP. It would seem that there are script errors on the
site. It's a server-side error, and nothing you can do on your end.

I didn't get any errors on http://www.mapmyrun.com when trying it out. (As
an aside, it's route measurements seem way off. The 1 mile around my block
is figured as 4 mi.)

When saving customizations on web sites, they are most often stored as a
cookie in the
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Cookies folder. Try deleting your
cookies in that folder (you may loose customizations at other sites) or just
the cookies for the sites you are having trouble with. Also, check your
cookie settings in IE at Tools...Internet Options...Privacy tab. Try
lowering the setting to Medium and see if that helps. If no joy, export
your existing cookies using IE's File, Import/Export tool, then delete the
Cookies folder from another user account with admin. permissions, then
reboot - it will be recreated as empty with a new index.dat file.

Jon,
Thanks for your help. I have deleted the cookies and my privacy settings
were already at Medium. I did as you suggested but no success. I was
wondering though, since I am unable to attempt your other suggestion because
this is my home pc and therefore do not have any other users, is there
another way to attempt what your are suggesting? Is there a way to delete
the cookies folder of a nother user if I have no other users?

Assuming you have XP, create another user account with admin. privlidges via
Start...Settings...Control Panel...User Accounts. Log into that new account
and you can delete your Cookies folder in your current profile from the one
you just created.
