When starting up Windows XP on my PC, Windows asks for a password, despite
the fact that no profile had a password associated with it at the last shut
down. No possible passwords work, and I get the following error message "The
system cannot log you on now because the domain....is not available. The
computer will startup in safe mode but all attempts to change profiles have
failed to resolve the problem. The system will also not allow me to do a
full system recovery. How do I resolve this problem?

Have you tried just pressing the ENTER key without a password?
Be more specific at what you have tried.
You may just have a simple start-up option change.

Pressing enter does not work. Nothing works but shutting down and restarting
in safe mode.

Before you logon, pull the little arrow down and change the logon to the
local PC name and not a domain name.

Doesn't work, as there are no other logon options available domain name... is
the location on local pc for profile, etc.

Pam, I am having the same problem. I had no passwords set and today it wants
one and it dont matter what I type in for one because it just goes to the
domain not available right away. If you have found a solution please pass it
on.
