Unless they have something set up totally wrong, the Win 2k DNS server will
not "search the Internet" for a zone it is authoritive for.
Consider this: when users set up their AD domain (mydomain.com) with the
same name as their Internet domain name (mydomain.com), they MUST manually
set up www records for their internet site in their local AD DNS server in
order for users on the AD domain to be able to view the Internet site.

Without setting up necessary records for you will not be able to view the
Internet domain with the same name as your AD domain because the Win 2k DNS
server sees itself as authoritive for the domain name and does not forward
to the internet.

Hello Danny,

Thanks for your feedback on this issue.

I want to be clear with this, there's no way that the
server go out from local area network to internet
broadcasting or searching for nothing that have
clientname.com instead of clientname in domain name alone
without configuration of Active Directory in Windows 2000
Server, I understood well!.

P.D. What means cpcNOmedSPAM.org, hth, DDS, W, 2K, MVP &
MCSE.

Thanks again!

If their internal AD domain name is clientname.com *no client* will go to
the internet to find clientname.com. They will look to the AD DNS server for
ALL clientname.com requests. They will look to the Internet for *everything*
*except* clientname.com.

hth = Hope This Helps
DDS = My initials
W 2k = Windows 2000
MVP = Most Valuable Professional
MCSE = Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator
cpcNOmedSPAM.org = This is done so the "email harvesting" programs that
scavenge these news groups for email addresses will not harvest a valid
email address, "Humans" can look at the email address and surmise they need
to remove NO and SPAM to get my real email address. If you post your real
email address here chances are soon you will get SPAM and viruses sent to
that email address.
