Domain Disjoin

Hi

I am trying to disjoin a windows XP machine from an old domain that has been
de-commissioned, but everytime I try to add the computer to a new domain or
workgoup i keep getting a message stating "The following error occured
attempting to unjoin the domain "abc.xyz.com"", "the specified service does
not exist as an installed service".

I have unplugged it from the network and still no joy. Now I am stuck, and
we appreciate if someone can help with this. I don't want to think of the
last option.

Thanks

How are you "unjoining" it from the domain. There is no "unjoin"
option in any of the dialog boxes. All you should have to do, using
an Admin level account, is to move the computer from a domain to a
workgroup. That's all. It does not have to be connected to the LAN
when you do this.
