Domain Change

My son's laptop running XP Pro was set-up by his school
for their network (in China). We have returned home but
the laptop still has the school domain set-up. A second
domain (the computer's name) is also there but he uses it
as a stand-alone. How do I change this from a networked
computer to a stand-alone.

The computer's name is not really a domain. It is just
the computer's name -- choose it to run as standalone.
However!!, you will need to know the login and password
of a LOCAL user account. Administrator will be one
account but you will need to know the password.

If your son had been using a domain account to login to the system, he
should continue to do it. Otherwise, you might lock him out of the machine
altogether (unless you know local account credentials with admin
privileges).
