Domain Admin Permission local admin

S

Simon

Hello all,

I have a strange permission problem when viewing computer information
remotely using the "computer management" tool.

I am logged in as a domain admin on a 2k server and try to connect to a
client (XP sp2) but when I select Sys Info I receive a permissions error. I
have checked and the domain admin account is part of builtin admin group.

This is happening on all clients in the domain.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Simon.

I might suggest that for some reason the Domain Admins security group is not
a member of the local Administrators group on the WINXP Pro SP2 clients? Is
someone messing around with the 'Restricted Groups' GPO and forgot to add
the Domain Admins group as well as the group of their choice?

Is DNS set up properly? I would suspect that it is as you are able to get
there. And then RPC would need to be running. But, again, you are able to
get there....just can not access due to permissions.
