a number of urls will still remain in the history file
after doing a delete of the history. Acts like they are
embedded and refuse to be deleted. Something triggered
this when the site was visited.

Really perplexing. Do not wish for the sites to surface
when someone enters in an new url.

Suggestions on how to erase.

This is were your typed URL's reside in your Registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

There is a manual tweak to deleting the stubborn ones but I do not have it
handy.

Make sure you flush your Browser cache with all IE windows closed.
