Doesn't support unattended administration

We are in the process of making recommendations to our
clients for the purchase of anti-spyware applications to
all of their systems. After some dozen or so different
applications that we have been testing for recommendation
to our clients, we have been impressed with Microsoft's
entry into this arena. However, we have found that it is
missing two important features:

1) it lacks the ability for IT personnel to install and
configure MSAS as a service or to run scans using the task
scheduler. A user must be logged on in order for MSAS to
perform scans. This means that in an office environment
when the user logs off at the end of day, a scan of the
system will not run in the middle of the night (unless a
user left themselves logged on).

2) There are no "advanced" administration settings that IT
personnel can set that would allow any detection by MSAS
to automatically take care of the problem silently
(leaving information of course in a log as to what
occurred). In other words, in our IT support environment,
we don't want the end user bothered with pop-up messages
or prompts. We need the application to handle the "alert"
or "detection" silently without bothering the user.

Unfortunately until MSAS can support these features, we
can't recommend this product to our clients.

You are correct. The current beta product is not designed with these
features, or suited for use in an environment where these features are
required.

Microsoft has announced that a product (which I suspect will include those
features and more) will be available as a purchasable product at some
future time. No information about dates, detailed feature set, or beta
testing is available.
