Does Vista need extra software for security?

Since you are a MVP representing Microsoft, may I suggest for you inquiring
for information from Microsoftâ??s BitLocker Team, the same folks that designed
and developed BitLocker? Logic shouts, Microsoftâ??s BitLocker Team is the
ultimate authority, not me.

The bus has arrived, are you ready for an educational journey?

I have presented sessions on Bitlocker at a couple of TechEds so
I am quite familiar with how it works. Apparently you are not.
Yes, BDE does provide protection against tampering with boot
files, however, that only applies if your computer has a TPM
chip in it, and again, it has nothing at all to do with the
disk-level encryption that BDE provides in addition to the boot
file protection. They are two separate mechanisms.

Kerry,

My faith and confidence with Microsoft’s BitLocker Team and Vista’s Tech
Support remains as strong as Vista’s BitLocker 256 Encryption believing what
was verbally articulated, compounded with reading BitLocker’s white paper
documents (saved to my HDD), and other Microsoft documents that BitLocker
performs precisely as described.

Why would Microsoft publish such documents, and then verbally share what is
written if the information was not factual and accurate?

No, I can not force you for believing facts, instead, only guide you to the
path of an incredible learning experience. You have the knowledge and ability
for performing the exact same research as I for learning fact from fiction.

One would believe the developers and designers of BitLocker surely must
fully distinguish the ability for what BitLocker performs.

Additionally, I’m certain that some folks would refuse believing the
benefits of allowing Vista Format a DVD-RW using Live Format, the DVD-RW
functions as an USB Flash Media. No, the DVD does not have the ability for
plugging into USB Ports.

Also, USB Flash Media has three versions of Flash, and Vista prefers one
type of Flash yet files and folders may be saved on all Versions of USB
Flash. Although, ReadyBoost will only load on one type of USB Flash Media.

Respectfully,
