Does this cable exist?

Hello,
Hey I have an interesting situation and was wondering if anyone knew
of a solution......other than buying a new computer. :D

My aunt is an older lady (past 64yrs old) she has an old computer
system, but loves it. She rarely uses it and everything she needs is
on it. Well her HP deskjet 600 printer went out on her last week.
I was at Target (dept store) tonite and they had a Lexmark 23 inkjet
printer on sale for $20.20, yeah $20 bucks, so I just had to buy it
for her.

Well I wasn't thinking...... I get it home and it's doesn't have the
old parallel connector on the back it has a USB B connector on the
back. (I think it is B - the smaller USB connector)

Anyways, her computer is so old it doesn't have a USB connector and I
don't believe it has an extra slot for a USB card, but will check and
that may be the way to go, but just for the sake of this posting let's
say it doesn't have room for a USB card.

Is there such a cable that has the 25 pin male parallel connector to
plug into the back of the computer that has a USB B connector on the
other end? I have seen the reverse, the USB A connector down to the
parallel connector but that doesn't help in this situation.

Any ideas. interested to see if anyone has a creative computer
imagination out there. (I know the system is old, but she loves it so
please don't suggest buying a new one....;0)
Smiles,
Annette

You'll have to get a USB adapter. Cheapest will be one that installs inside
the computer, probably about $20, plus cable for $6. You can do this!

I'm assuming the old computer runs at at least 200 MHz and has a CD-ROM
drive.

And the PC must be running Win98 or later; NT, Win3x and Win95 don't
support USB

The guy needs parallel to USB conversion. I don't think such a thing exist.
Why not give her a second gift - a new PC. It'd cost 10x more than the
printer though.

but at $40 to $60 for a printer, a PC at 10x that is a decent deal.
For her purposes, an E-machnine or budget Gateway will do.
