Does the 'Expires After' message option require Microsoft Exchange on the
sender side, receiver side, or both? Thanks for the answer.

Certainly not a definitive answer, but I suspect that Outlook at each end
may be sufficient.
 
I've heard different answers. Nobody seems to know "for sure" though...
