Does RAM/DISK based EWF commits take place right away?

Hello,
IS it true that in RAM based EWF , commits takes place right away ? Is
this true for disk based EWF also? Doesn't we need to reboot the system
to make the commit successful.
Could anyone help me to answer the question.

Shiju,

In my understanding, EWF commit takes place on graceful shutdown (Ram
Overlay) or next boot (Disk Overlay).
