Does Office 95 Professional work properly on Windows 98? Access 95 in particular..

Does Office 95 Professional work properly on Windows 98? Access 95 in
particular.

I have a database with 10 years worth of records (thousands). It was
created with Microsoft Office 95. It still works fine, but the pc is
looking old (Pentium 75mhz). It had glitches when I attempted to
convert it to Access 97 years ago, so we stuck with using a Win95
system with Office 95.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't install Office 95 Pro on a Windows
98 system?

It's a real important database, so I don't want to run any problems
trying to run Acess 95 under Windows 98. Years ago it seemed people
mentioned Access may work more directly with the OS than other the
other office programs.

I know we could have a programmer convert the tables from this
database to a new version of Access, but we don't really want to spend
the money or make a new project. Things work fine for now, but i've
got a few newer machines laying around i'd like to take advantage of.

Thanks for any info.

I have run Access 95 on a Windows 98 system. As to "properly", I found that
Access 95 itself was such a problem that I converted those few databases to
Access 97.

Thanks Cheryl.

I attempted to Convert them to Access 97 at one point, but found
problems after converting them, so we kept it running on Access 95.

I've heard the tables should be converted separately into a new
database made with Access 97, but i'm not an Access Programmer and we
didn't want to turn this into a project.

Do you think you would still have had the same problems you ran into
if you had kept Access 95 running on a Windows 95 machine?

For the short time that I used Access 95, I recall that it was problematic
on both OS's. That having been said, it would be most unusual in a
conversion of any kind - OS or Application - not to have some wrinkles to
iron out.

We're trying to urge you to go to A97 as we know it's more reliable.
Do you recall what problems you were having? Possibly with API
calls and Integer vs Long fields?

I doubt it's that, Tony. What you're describing was part of the 16 bit to 32
bit conversion, and Access 95 was 32-bit, same as Access 97
