Will each of your drives boot on its own, with its
currently installed operating system?

About your data which you don't want to lose: There
are two groups of people - those who back up their
important files every week, and those who don't.
Ultimately, everyone becomes a member of the first
group. The transition can be very painful. Your post
suggests that you prefer to wait with your move
until you get suitably motivated. Good luck!

You can use this configuration but you will need a third party software such
as boot magic to boot to the WinXP drive.
