Does Archive Append?

Ok - I have been very afraid of the archive function in Outlook. When archive
runs lets say weekly does it append the new data or overwrite? As an
example...

Week 1 archive - archives 10 emails

Week 2 archive - archive 15 emails

If I open the archive.pst will I see 15 or 25 emails? Same question for
calander appoitments...
