does a .pst file inherit file size limitations from mailbox?

Exchange admin has set 50MG as limit on mailbox. When we create an
archive.pst on a network server (not on Exchange), is the .pst file also
limited to 50MG?
Older archived messages are disappearing after a new auto-archive is
completed.

No

I guess my question should have been. Do .pst files have a size limit? If
not, why are the oldest archived messages disappearing? They are not set to
expire.

PSTs have a limit of either 1.82 GB (for pre-OL 2003 PSTs) or approximately
33 TB (for Unicode PSTs)

Thanks, Brian. That answers my question about file size. But am still
puzzled by the disappearing messages. .pst fie size is far from 1Gb. on
OL2002.

Well those messages shouldn't go anywhere on their own. Checked your view
settings? Does the folder actually decrease in size?

Yes, view has been checked. Will check folder size. Thanks much for your
help.

This is my first-ever posting and am very pleased with response. Usually
just search for similar questions.
