Document Headers

Is there a way to not import headers and footers from a source document
when using an INCLUDETEXT field or doing a file insert?

I am trying to split a very large document into several smaller
documents and then build a TOC document to stitch them back together.
I want a consistant header/footer in the distributable document, yet
might not want the same one in each of the subdocuments.

Headers and footers are 'stored' in the final paragraph mark of the section.
If the document has only one section, then they are in the final paragraph
mark of the document. Add an extra paragraph mark to the end of the
sub-document, so omitting the final mark doesn't muck up the format of the
final paragraph itself; then copy and paste the content excluding the final
paragraph mark.

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/PasteWithoutSectionInfo.htm
You may have to create individual bookmarks in your source documents that
don't include the section marks.
