Document font sizes change on different machine

I am running PPT 2003 w/ SP2. When I open presentations given to me by
several other users in the office, the fonts resize or reformat on their own
when I open the file. For example, a font may format to bold that was normal
typface, or it may grow by a size.

I checked the same files on another user's machine (who is running same
version of Office), and the files open without issue.

Is this the bug that has been mentioned a few times in earlier posts? Or do
I have a setting toggled differently?

Oh...the one I am working on now is a PPT doc with a single master slide.

It sounds more like they used a font that is not on your machine and PPT is
making a best guess substitution.

In addition to Austin's reply, you can check if it is making font
substitutions by looking at the format -> replace fonts dialogue - any fonts
in the top drop down with a '?' next to them are not present on your machine
and will be replaced by PowerPoint. To overcome this, the maker of the ppt
should use widely available fonts or embed the fonts (tools -> options ->
save). However, not all fonts can be embedded and it can explode the size of
the file.
