Document constantly repaginating

Hello. I have a semi-lengthy document (110 pgs.) that makes extremely heavy
use of cross references. The problem is, when in page view, any time I try to
scroll to the next page the document needs to repaginate the document--15 or
20 times and about the same number of minutes. Switching to Normal View
eliminates this problem, but then I am unable to change header/footers. Any
idea why the document may be repaginating like this? I've tried
copying/pasting material into another document with no success (same
problem). Suggestions, anyone? Thanx!

Continuous repagination is usually a symptom of a corrupted document.
