Do you want to archive?

Hi there,

I'm using Outlook 2000 instead of Outlook Express. Something strange
happened with Outlook, which made all my emails disappear I have sent
over the past months.

I clicked something and I was asked: Do you want to archive? Assuming
that my emails would be archived and that I would be able to retrieve
them, I clicked Yes. And then all of my emails vanished into thin air
and I can't get them back.

Is it possible to get my emails back? And if so, how?

Thanks!

go to FILE: OPEN: OPEN A PST FILE. Click there and see if there is a
pst file called ARCHIVE.PST. if there is open it and see if your
e-mail is there.

Hi there,

I'm back with the same problem with Outlook 2000, but this time on
behalf of a friend of mine. He also clicked Yes to the question Do you
want to archive? But he did not find, unlike me, his emails in the
archive.pst file.

Any idea where they could have gone to?

Thanks,

Tom

have him goto

TOOLS:OPTIONS:OTHER:AUTO ARCHIVE

the path and filename of the archive file will be in a box. its
probably archive.pst but it doesn't have to be. you can also find the
archive file name by FILE: ARCHIVE.

try opening whatever *pst file is shown in that box and see if the
missing e-mail is there. if it is not then the mail may have been
deleted instead of archived. if he backs up his system he should be
able to restore the pst file from a backup copy.

Hi rich,

Thanks again for your tip, much obliged! He could restore it with the
..pst folder from the backup copy.

Take care,

Tom
