do presentations recognize events?

I am new to VBA. I have found in MS "Office 97 Visual
Basic Programmer's Guide" book a statement that
presentations and slides do not recognize events and,
therefore, one has to use ActiveX to deal with events. It
seems to be a severe limitation. Is it really the case?

If so, does it mean that I cannot run a procedure on,
e.g., changing a slide or switching to show mode, without
using ActiveX?

Shyam read closer than I did. You are using Office 97 and therefore
PowerPoint 97. Events can not be captured in this version or prior
versions. You will need to upgrade your PowerPoint version in order to
capture events.

This site will tell you some ways you can upgrade:

Actually I have Office 2003. It was the book on Office 97
VB that I was quoting. It was the only book with a (rather
thin)chapter on VB in PP that I had easy access to.

Thank you again. Jan
