do NOT want automatic acceptance of meeting

A user has had this problem in Outlook XP and now Outlook 2003. Meeting
requests are accepted automatically and then double booked when the user
accepts the meeting. I have tried the tools, options, . . . resource and
tried turning off auto preview of message thinking that was somehow forcing
acceptance. I am stuck and can't quite figure it out.

Check the problem user's settings under Tools | Options | E-mail Options | Tracking Options. "Process requests and responses on arrival" needs to be unchecked.

Hi Sue,

Thanks for taking time to reply. The "Process requests and responses on
arrival" was NOT checked off so I checked it off. After that, it would still
book into his calendar before accepting the meeting request however when he
did accept the meeting the orginal auto accept would disappear after approx
30 seconds. So he had the auto accept and the manual accept side by side but
the auto accept would eventually be cleared after manual accept. Weird, eh?

That sort of makes sense if they're using Outlook 2003 SP2, which does a bit better job of handling that kind of scenario.
