Do not have necessary permission to use?

I had created a database a while back and use it regulary. This past week I
had off, but kept my laptop with me the whole time. For some reason, when I
now try to open the database I recieve a "Do not have the necessary
permission to use the "name of database" object. Have your system
administrator or person who created this object establish the appropriate
permission for you."

I have no idea what had happened to make this change. Does anybody know of
a why I can access my database?

Have you used it successfully during this week, or is this the first time
you tried to use it?

The database is secured, and you are not using the correct workgroup file.

I tried opening it yesterday before leaving work and it did the same thing.
I just closed it and went home. I did not try opening it last week because I
was off all week.

I am not exactly sure how my workgroup file got changed. I think I only
used my computer last week to surf the web and check email. Is there an easy
fix to changing back the workgroup file. I cannot open the database at all
so I am hoping that it can be done just through Access.

Thanks for your help!

Assuming you are using a recent version of Access, open it and go to Tools,
Security, Workgroup Administrator. That will tell you the mdw file you are
joined to by default.

You can click on Join and rejoin the standard system.mdw that ships with
Access. You might want to search for *.mdw on your computer first, so you
know where it is.

If your database is actually secured, then create a desktop shortcut to
launch it. The target would look like
"Path to msaccess.exe" "path to mdb" /wrkgrp "path to secure mdw"

YES!! Thank you!

For some odd reason, the .mdw was placed in the recycle bin. I am now
wondering if one of my children did that. I had it placed with the database
in My Documents so it could have easily happened. I will have to change
that.

Again, thank you for saving me days of work replacing all of that data.
