Do I need two Nics?

Hi All.

I'm wondering if I need two network cards on my second
2000 server I've just built.

I have ONE Domain Controller, and my newly built 2000
server, is a CHILD of the main domain controller.

The new second server has exchange installed, and will be
connected directly to a Router for internet access / email.

My question is this:
I need to specifiy the Primary DNS entry on my network
card on my newly built server, as my Main Domain
Controller, otherwise Active Directory won't work on the
newly built server. However in doing this, my internet
won't work.

So do I need to install two nics, on the newly built
server. So one network card has the Primary DNS of the
windows 2000 server holding my active directory, and the
second card has the DNS entries for my ADSL router, so I
can get access to the net/email.

Or am I looking at this from the wrong angle?!

Thanks in Advance!

Hi,

You don't need another NIC. What you should do is configure your DNS server
to forward to the DNS server on the ADSL connection.

See 300202 HOW TO: Configure DNS for Internet Access in Windows 2000
