Hi,

I'm doing a 'spring clean' and trying to get rid of files and programs that
are clogging up my hard drive. I've come across loads of files in my
c:\windows\installer directory that have .msp & .msi file extensions with
some dating back to 2003/2004. There are also many folders that look like
this: {848AC794-8B81-440A-81AE-6474337DB527}. Do I need to keep these
files/folders as they are basicaly taking up about 700MB of disk space.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jay

Hi

Yes - you do need to keep them. They are used for various updates -
deleting them can cause havoc, as I found out!!

Many thanks for your advise. Good job I checked before doing anything drastic.

Thanks again.

Hi

I made the mistake of deleting them - but only once :-))

Probably, meant to send you an email earlier to ask if you'd lost any of
your Sky channels ?

My Windows Installer directory is 22 GB, when everything else on my entire C:
drive is 27GB. There's got to be some way to get rid of old stuff... Any
thoughts?

I pretty much only run MS Office 2003, Quicken, Turbotax and Norton. I've
had the computer since 1998.
