Do I need this?

Is windsock 2.2 exe. needed? I ask this because It's infected with the
W32.Randex.gen virus, and I was wondering if it would be safe to delete it.
Thanks.

You could try running the System File Checker to restore any essential
files.
Open the Command Prompt and type

sfc /?

for instructions.
I'd use sfc /scanonce and then reboot.

Be sure to have your XP CD to hand as you may need it.

You don't have any choice - if it's infected it must be deleted.

However, if you've spelt it correctly then you don't need it.

NO it is not needed. Delete it. It is NOT an XP file.

windsock 2.2 exe is part of the virus and NOT an XP file, delete it.
Double check your virus scanner with an online scan just to be sure all of
the virus is removed.
A link for free online virus and trojan scanners.
