Do I need Microsoft Office to run Word?

I have Microsoft Works 6.0 with Microsoft Word 200 SR-1 (I got available
upgrades off microsfot site).
I saw MIcrosoft Office on my program list (in add/remove), didn't remember
seeing it there befoe, didn't think I should have it, it had the microsoft
flag flying backwards on a post and since I'd had some problems with adware
on my system (I had checked on one of them and it said they could ADD
programs to my system) so.... I removed it !
Now I can't load Word.
Did I screw up??? If I need it, is there anyway to get it back?
Thanks

Word is part of the office suite so there may be some cross references even
when Word is installed as part of Works suite. However if you have
uninstalled you will have to reinstall to get it back.
