Do I have to resize my pics to fit slideshow?

I am now learning to use PowerPoint. I keep my pics large, as most of the
viewers, editors, windows xp home, etc, will all automatically create
thumbnails for viewing. However, when I put the pics into P P slideshow, they
displayed actual size pis. Each slide had multiple scroll bars. Is there a
setting that will automatically adjust photo size to fit the screen, or do I
have to resize every pic in the folder to fit the screen?

Ideally resize your pics to 1024x768 (or screen res or size required) before
inserting this will keep filesize down

If you choose layout = content and click the insert picture icon pics will
be resized to the placeholder but you might find that the file size will be
bloated.
