When I run IPCONFIG I get the following line:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix : Ian

From where "Ian" comes from and what does it means.

Thank you. I have two computers, Alpha and Bravo, networked through a
wireless router in a MSHome network. The name Ian has never been allocated
to any service etc. Regedit search can not locate any Ian. The services
outside my control are the router, broadband and ISP services, but I can not
see why they should choose to allocate a personal name Ian. Regards

It's most likely picking up signal from one of your neighbors
wireless router which can be up to 300 feet away.

There are four homes near my house using wireless and my
neighbor at the end of my street can see my wireless router
(when I have it turned on, off most of the time as it only supports WEP)
plus 4 others.

Hope you are using more than WEP for encryption as it's
far to easy to crack.

Thanks once more. I have a IT technician two doors up. I shall speak to him.
I can not log into his wireless signal.
