DNS Search

Will XP (SP1) search DNS server entries sequentially? I
want to point to an external DNS server to resolve all
external sites and an internal to resolve internal sites.
When I configure DNS with the external DNS server first
and the internal second, none of the internal sites
resolve. I was under the impression that Windows would
querie DNS servers in order. I don't want to point to the
internal DNS server first because this will result in
additional WAN traffic.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Nope, it doesn't work that way. The proper way to configure DNS is to
configure all clients on a LAN to look only at the internal DNS server, then
configure the internal DNS server to perform outside lookups.
