dns problem

i have setup a dns server on windows advanced server around a week ago and
previously it was giving pass results in both simple and recursive queries,
but now when i am checking (through server properties, Monitoring tab in DNS
manager), its passing forward queries but failing for recursive queries.
Also i have added a forwarder which is an outside dns server, but cannot
resolve outside domains like www.hotmail.com etc although locally registered
computers are ping-able, like primary and secondary Active directory
servers. Can anyone tell me why recursive query tests are failing and why
external domains are not accessible?

Hi,

I did a nslookup with that server. He gives a timeout for www.heise.de.

use another DNS as your forward.
