dns forwarders

Hello,

I have a windows 2000 domain controller thats running DNS services. When I
go into the properties to setup the ISP's dns in the DNS forwarders its
grayed out with "server is root server and can't forward.

Without the forwarder I have to use the ISP dns for the clients and its
giving me netlogon errors and slow login times.

Any help is appreciated.

There might be an official and recommended method for this, but when I had
exactly the same issue, all I did was deleted the root "." zone from the DNS
server. Waited a while for the server to refresh its data (probably did a
restart of the DNS as well) - and the Forwarders tab became accessible,
since the DNS did not think of itself as the root server anymore.

Hope this helps.

That's the official recommendation. <grin>

Deleted root zone and restarted DNS.
Forwarder tab now available.

Thanks,
