DNS - External Domain

I have a Windows 2K3 standard edition server running DNS with a non-public
domain name (companyoffice.com). They have a co-branded webex domain name
called company.webex.com. They are able to access company.webex.com from
outside their local network, but get a page cannot be displayed from
internal. What needs to be done on the Windows 2K3 internal DNS to allow
company.webex.com to be resolved from the internal network?

Thanks,
Rogene

Is this company.webex.com site located on a local server?
Create a new forward lookup zone named company.webex.com, in that zone
create a new host, leave the name field blank and give it the internal IP
address you need it to resolve to.

Hi Kevin,

No, the company.webex.com is an external server. Is the same process you
explained used, but use the external vs internal IP?

Yes, but if the domain and server are extrernal, it should already be able
to resolve the name.

It does not resolve the name when we are on the internal network. So, is it
really required that a new zone record be established or is the problem
something else?

Hi Keven,

I just added a new primary zone in DNS and it is now working.

Thanks,

I was going to say, and am sure Kevin would have responded the same, is that
if the internal domain name and the external domain name are exactly the
same, then you would need to manually create the record internally providing
the external IP because DNS will not forward a query for a zone that it
hosts.
