I am looking for information on upgrading or company from an NT 4 single domain to a AD WK3
In reguards to DNS setup, if I use an internal dns namespace such as example.local and I have a registered dns domain of example.com. How do I set up my internal Active directory DNS and external dns servers so internal company users have/use an email address of (e-mail address removed) ?, yet internal clients having web access resolution and external users (vpn/remote,web) being able to get to the internal network

I have a nt 4 single domain (small network 5 servers, about 80 clients located over 3 locations with a wan link ), exchange 5.5 sp4, host own external dns,mx records etc. at present
Upgrading is including using Win 2k3 server as well as Exchange 200

Thank You in advanc

Add example.com to the recipient policy in exchange.

Additionally, even though your AD domain is example.local, you can add
example.com to the UNC logon so users can logon to the domain and exchange
with their email address, (e-mail address removed).
Here's how, in Active Directory Domains and Trusts, right click on ADD&T,
and choose properties. type example.com in the UNC logon field and click
Add. this adds @example.com to the drop down list on the account tab of the
user properties sheet in ADU&C.
You get the best of both worlds this way, users can logon with their email
address, but the actual DNS domain name does not conflict with any
externally hosted DNS names.
