i run win xp, ie6 and adsl broadband.
recently, and for reasons i haven't been able to work out,
i encountered page download issues. there's a delay of up
to 20-30 seconds after clicking on a link before the
browser starts searching for it. then, after another 20-30
seconds, the "page cannot be found" error message shows.
at the bottom, it says it's possibly due to a dns error.
if i click on "reload", i'm usually able to get to the
site the second time, but not always. and when not,
clicking on the link again doesn't do anything. it's as if
it's dead.
this problem seems to happen for a few days, before it
goes good again. soon, it happens again.
someone suggested this may be from spyware. using a couple
of spyware cleaner progs, i've cleaned all that stuff up
now. but the above issues still exists.
i ran the win xp 'network diagnostics' facility
in 'help/support' a few times, that tells me the
DNSSEARCHORDER test failed each time. something to do with
ping tests. correlated with the 'dns error' message i
receive, this may be a good indicator of what the problem
is.
i don't know if this problem is at my end or the isp's.
because it starts and stops as i said before, i tend to
think it's an isp problem.
but can someone please tell me what they think???
thanks!
