DNS Child domain

R

RUBEN YBARRA

I ran dcpromo on my server to promote it to a child domain in an existing
forest but I did not setup a DNS zone for the child domain on the Parent
server. I want to run my own dns on the child domain. How can I fix this
problem?

Thanks

Install DNS on the new DC
Point the new DC to itself for DNS in it's TCP/IP properties
stop netlogon
start netlogon
verify that you have SRV records

You will want to create a delegation in the parent domain to the child
domain
You will want to configure your forwarders to point to a dns server(or
servers) in your parent domain
