Hi all! I have installed DNS on a W2K DC but have not been
able to resolve internet names queries, but I am resolving
internal names fine.
Any ideas?

Thanx,

JK

Did you delete the "." forward lookup zone?
If not, delete it, that enables the root hints after you refresh the DNS
console.
After you delete the "." zone abd refresh the console, you can enable a
forwarder to your ISP's DNS (forwarder optional)

I have never created the "." zone. I have
created "mydomain.com" zone and a reverse lookup zone.
Thanks for the response,

JK

I didn't say you created it, DCPROMO does that. Did you delete it?

What Kevin is warning you about is that sometimes
the "." zone is create automatically. There is no warning.

When this is done, the ability to use a forwarder is disabled.

Delete "." if any.

Add your ISP (or other appropriate) DNS server to the forwarder
tab -- make sure the Property\Advanced\Disable Recursion is CLEAR.
Disabling recursion there, also disables forwarding.
