dmp file is not created

Windows 2000 server SP3 keeps freezing up from time to time. I haven't
figured out a cause, yet. Therefore I configured the system so that it can
create a dmp file during the outage:
- "complete memory dump" in %systemroot%\memory.dmp
- owerwrite existing dmp file
- 1.6GB free space on the bootable partition vs 512MB of RAM
The system froze up 2 times already, but there is no dmp file created. Any
ideas, please?
Thank you.

If the server simply "locked up" then no memory.dmp would be created. Sounds
like the operating system exhausted all memory resources.

Could be something is memory leaking up to the point of the lockup. You can
use Task Manager and or Performance Monitor to see what is consuming the
mem/ cpu. A consistently positive "Mem Delta" value may indicates a memory
leak.

I will monitor Task Manager, however when the system is locked up obviously I
can't get to Task Manager. The lock up happens about every 2-3 weeks. I can
turn on performance monitor. What do you recommend to use as Performace
Object? Is is memory and/or CPU? What type of counters should I use? Is "Mem
Delta" a counter? It's not listed as a counter under performance object -
"Memory"? What do I need to do to monitor "Mem Delta"?
Thank you.
