I'm using quickbooks and when I go to launch it from the
desk top I fet this message The c:\windows\system\MFC
42.DLL file appears to be corrupt. Then behind that
message it will say Windows cannot run this program
because it is in an invalid format. Does anyone know
how to correct this.

Restore the file from your Win2000 CD via a Command Prompt:

expand d:\i386\mfc42.dl_ c:\winnt\system32\mfc42.dll

You should then apply the latest Service Pack.

is this file registered within windows?

What you can do is download the *.dll from where ever it
comes from. Copy the file to the location as specified
above then use regsrv32 to register the file
Make sure that you are in the same folder as the file you
want to register.

Example: regsrv32 mfc42.dll
